Potter wins Vermilion queen contest STAFF REPORT - Commerical News, Danville, IL.
DANVILLE — Lauren Potter, a sophomore at Western
Illinois University, will reign as the 2008 Vermilion County
Fair queen.
Potter, the daughter of Clark and Jacquie Potter of Alvin,
was selected Tuesday night from among nine contestants.
The pageant includes swimsuit, evening gown and communication
skills.
Potter also received the interview award.
Brittani Brandon, 17, the daughter of Keith and Tricia
Peoples of Danville, was named first runner-up. She will
be a freshman at Danville Area Community College in the
fall.
Heather Siddens, 18, a sophomore at DACC, was named second
runner-up. She is the daughter of John Siddens and Bobbette
Siddens of Danville.
Siddens also received the evening gown award, volunteerism
essay award and was judged most photogenic.
Sunny Strader, a junior at Danville High School, was voted
Miss Congeniality. Strader, 16, is the daughter of Tom
and Kelly Strader of Danville.
Emily Lerner, 17, received the award for her community
essay. She is the daughter of Joseph Lerner and Cindy Bean
of Danville. Lerner is a senior at Danville High School.
Flynn Williams, 17, the daughter of Greg and Marsha Williams,
won the speech award. She is a senior at Danville High
School.
Janessa Blincoe, 19, a sophomore at Danville Area Community
College, won the swimsuit award. She is the daughter of
Diana Blincoe of Hoopeston.
Anne Thompson won the Little Miss Vermilion County competition,
with Trinity Wheeler being named first runner-up.
As winner of the queen contest, Potter will receive scholarships
worth $1,000 as well as a variety of gifts donated by local
merchants and organizations. She now will compete in the
state competition.
